Wake Up, Oh Sleeper
Words and music by Jason Bellard

Verse 1 // ( G Em C D G ) Capo 3
Wake up, o sleeper, awake from the dead (repeat)
Rise from the dead and Christ will give you light
Wake from your slumber, we must redeem the time (repeat)
These days are evil and we must redeem the time
Scripture Reading (Excerpts from Ephesians 5)
Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest,
Arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil
Wherefore ye be not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess,
But be filled with the spirit,
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs
Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
Giving thanks always, for all things unto God the Father
In the name of the Lord Jesus,
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God

Chorus // ( Em C G )
For today is the day of salvation and today is the day of new life. (repeat)

Verse 2 // ( G Em C D G )
How long, oh sleeper, will you sleep in sin? (repeat)
Will you sleep in sin, when will you arise?
Please sleep no longer, we weep for you now (repeat)
We weep for you and the sake of your dear life
Scripture Reading (Excerpts from Matthew 24)
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man,
No, not the angels which are in Heaven, neither the Son, but the Father
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is
For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey who left his house
Who gave authority to his servants
And to every man his work and commanded the porter to watch
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the Master of the house cometh,
At even, or at midnight, or at cockcrowing, or in the morning;
Lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping.
What I say unto you I’ll say it to all, watch

Verse 3 // ( G Em C D G )
Hear him, oh sleeper, He’s calling to you (repeat)
He’s calling to you in the midst of your night
Wake up, oh sleeper, the Savior is longing
Arise, oh dreamer, the Savior is longing,
The Savior is longing to be your delight
